The Final Story

We read the pages,
Turned every one.
Laughed over the ages,
Cried with the dying sun.
And even when it's over,
Even when it's through,
We'll turn once more the pages;
And say,"I remember you."
But for once last time,
We will laugh; we will cry,
We will smile; we will die.
Fighting beside our heroes,
Who stood by us at bedtime.
So we'll grasp their hands,
And hug them tight;
Knowing their last battle,
Is coming tonight.
Even when it's over,
And when the last bell has rung;
We'll stand back and say,
"Look at what we've done."
